Supporting National Greyhound Registration and Traceability in Chile

We respectfully support the establishment of a comprehensive national registration process for greyhounds in Chile through cooperation with Greyhound-Data and the Greyhound Corporation of Chile . This initiative is intended to improve traceability, reinforce responsible ownership, and provide public authorities with clearer evidence about the number, identity, and care status of greyhounds connected to the sport.

A structured registry would assist in distinguishing properly recorded greyhounds from unregistered or abandoned dogs which do not correspond to racing greyhounds, while also demonstrating that many greyhounds associated with the sport are identifiable and linked to known homes and owners. The World Greyhound Organisation describes registration as part of maintaining an accurate stud book, registering owners and trainers, and ensuring accountability for registered greyhounds, which makes registration relevant to welfare and oversight discussions. 

Once all dogs are registed with the World Greyhound Organisation, Greyhound-Data will show tracks and races promoting Chile racing worldwide.

A complete and credible national registry would help ensure that decisions about greyhound racing in Chile are based on documented participation, identifiable ownership, and verifiable data.
